Six Cornish Date Ideas

This year, we’re scrapping the flowers and chocolate and getting a little more creative. We’ve come up with our top out-of-the-box date ideas that are not only intrinsically Cornish, but are also sure to wow your significant other this Valentine’s Day.

Take a yoga class at Trebah Garden

Where: Mawnan Smith, Falmouth

Whether your partner is a true yogi or a complete novice, this unique yoga class is sure to make a one-of-a-kind experience. Enjoy a herbal tea on arrival followed by an hour and 15-minute session surrounded by nature and beautiful views down the garden to the Helford River.

Savour a candlelit dinner at the Water’s Edge

Where: Right on our doorstep

Sometimes, it’s okay to go back to the classics, especially when they taste so good. And that’s exactly what the Water’s Edge’s decadent dinner menu offers. Head Chef Bobby puts his own spin on Cornish dishes that give you a true taste of all our shores have to offer. Even better, it runs from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th February.

Take the Tarquin’s Distillery Tour

Where: Wadebridge

Gin lovers rejoice! This is the perfect date idea for those with an affinity for the good stuff. Enjoy a unique and insightful tour of the distillery for the masterfully-crafted small-batch gin, where you’ll learn the ins and outs of how Tarquin’s create their award-winning products. There’s plenty of opportunity for tastings too, as well as a chance to wax your own bottle.

Coastal foraging at Philleigh Way Cookery School

Where: Cove Cafe, Hayle

This truly unique date idea is perfect for any food lover looking to learn something new. The four hour class will give you an insight into the world of foraging. The beach by the Cove Cafe in Hayle provides the perfect location for collecting edible coastal plants and wild food. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour with a cookery demonstration at the cafe.

Take a stroll on the South West Coast Path

Where: All over Cornwall

For those with an adventurous spirit, nothing beats taking to the South West Coast Path. Making up hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches and landscapes, we can’t think of a better way to spend time with your significant other. You can select a trail by heading to the Coast Path’s website. We highly recommend choosing one with a pub at the end of it!

Indulge in a bottomless afternoon tea

Where: the Water’s Edge, Falmouth

If your significant other has a sweet tooth, we’ve got just the date idea for you. Head to our panoramic Water’s Edge restaurant, where you’ll both tuck into three tiers of decadent treats and endless bubbles with our bottomless afternoon tea experience. Sip away while you savour sweet and savoury delights while taking in sweeping views of Falmouth bay.

The beds are some of the comfiest we’ve slept in – although they’re narrowly beaten as our favourite thing about the place by the harbour views from the rooms bay window.
