What’s on in Cornwall this June
Summer months come with a specific kind of entertainment; music and dancing galore, cultural events, cocktails in the sun, festivals, laughs and showcasing our amazing county. To help you make the most out of the Cornish summer fun, we’ve put together a guide of the ‘must visit’ events in Cornwall this month.
2nd – 5th June: Jubilee afternoon tea
Where: right on our doorstep
Reign in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee the best way we know how. Celebrate this momentous occasion with an afternoon tea fit for royalty. Throughout the bank holiday, we’ll be clinking our glasses at The Water’s Edge and savouring high tea that even her highness would approve of. In our breath taking Water’s Edge restaurant, classically British sweets and treats will be on offer, alongside a regally refreshing summer cup cocktail – on us of course. 28th May – 6th June: Wild Week, lost gardens of heligan, St. Austell
Where: 50 minute drive from The Greenbank
Adventures big and small await at The Lost Garden’s of Heligan this half term. Rediscover your wild side, restore your survival skills and enjoy a week of creative outdoor play. Family and friends will be brought together to take part in wild activities, suitable for adults and children alike. You’ll discover skills such as axe throwing, fire striking, bug hunting, wild feasting and more. There’ll also be lots of playground adventures which will allow children to howl like a fox whilst taking on the zip wire, scurry like a badger through tunnels and be as free as a butterfly in the garden’s huge outdoor play area. 16th May – 29th June: Eden Sessions, The Eden Project, Bodelva
Where: 58 minute drive from The Greenbank
The Eden Project is a true hub of creativity and culture. Adventure through The Biomes, covering beautiful Mediterranean gardens then welcome in the late summer nights with world renowned artists. These nights are an experience like no other. Many say it’s “The nearest you can get to watching a gig on the moon”. The magical setting of The Eden Project makes it the perfect stage to host names such as Bjork, Elton John, Oasis and so many more. Luckily, this year is no different in terms of quality of talent. With performances from acclaimed artists such as My Chemical Romance, Noel Gallagher, and Diana Ross – The Eden Sessions are not to be missed. You can find the full line-up here.
9th – 11th June, Royal Cornwall Show, The Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge
Where: 56 minute drive from The Greenbank
The Royal Cornwall Show hosts entertainment for everyone. The show is Cornwall’s biggest annual event and is full of exhibitions and activities. From toe tapping to live music, winning, or reveling in defeat with games galore or stocking up on some of Cornwall’s best produce, the show attracts visitors from far and wide. Competitions leave contestants and spectators on tender hooks as animals of all kinds get inspected by judges with the highest of expectations. The grounds are array with beautiful flowers ready to be shown to all patrons of the event. The show truly showcases the best of Cornish produce and talent. 10th June, Seaglass Jewellery Workshop, Inspire Makers, Falmouth
Where: 6 minute walk from The Greenbank
Learn to make a necklace, ring or bangle whilst being shown how to cut and file silver, solder and add textures, at this intimate and inspiring sea glass workshop. You can bring your own sea glass finds or choose from Porth Jewelry’s impressive collections. This is a very special workshop where you’ll leave at the end of the day with your very own handmade piece of silver jewelry. Discover more sessions here.
17th – 19th June: Sea Shanty, The Working Boat, Falmouth
Where: on our very own quay
After a three-year hiatus, Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival is back! And we’re going to be celebrating right here on our quay. We’re proud to share that The Greenbank are once again an official sponsor and host of this amazing local festival. We’re so excited to finally welcome back an amazing line up as well as lots of lovely faces to our mar-quay by the sea. As well as being sponsors of the Falmouth Classics, across the weekend we’ll also be embracing lots of amazing singing from our very own stage. Throughout the weekend, expect to enjoy lots of delicious food too. Our crew will be preparing scrumptious homemade pizzas in our classic pizza oven as well as serving plenty of pub grub from midday until late on all three days. 24th – 26th June: TUNES IN THE DUNES, Perranporth Beach
Where: 34 minute drive from The Greenbank
Hosted on Perranporth beach, infamous for events and their beach bar – Tunes in the Dunes is back for 2022. Locals and visitors eagerly anticipate this festival each year. With a spectacular line-up, welcoming headliners The Kooks, Shaggy, and Paul Weller this year are sure to be a success. Tunes in the Dunes is definitely a unique experience, being one of the only UK festivals where you can dance the day away in the sand. The entertainment is designed for all with varying music genres and activities for adults and children alike. 25th June: Sundowner Session, The Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth
Where: right on our doorstep
Make your Friday plans even more special by joining us for our Sundowner Session in our harbourside bar and lounge. This month we will be joined by the talented Tom Baker, who will be playing dreamy acoustic tunes inspired by folk and soul. From 7pm until 10pm, sip your tipples of choice while relaxing and listening to the tunes of Cornwall’s finest homegrown talents. The Sundowner Sessions also coincide with The Cocktail Club which means two for £10 cocktails all evening. Friday plans don’t get better than that.
30th June – 3rd July: Falmouth’s Cringe Festival, Various Venues, Falmouth
Where: 14 minute walk from The Greenbank
A brand-new comedy festival is coming to Falmouth – the first of its kind in the Southwest. Set to mimic the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the town will be hosting back-to-back sets from various comedians in venues around Falmouth. The main venues who are taking part in The Cringe Festival are The Chintz, Underland, Cornish Bank, Toast, Falmouth Poly and Solskinn: The Church. The venues are home to some of Falmouth’s most creative and cultured events, so it’s very fitting for them to be taking part in the first ever Cringe Festival. Expect to see big names such as Tim Key and Maisie Adams who will be closing the festival. Discover more and book your tickets here.
