Top Ten Reasons To Visit Us This Year

1. Our breath-taking views

Home to the world’s third largest natural harbour, Falmouth boasts some of Cornwall’s best views. What better way to experience life on the water than being able to step out of your room and straight on to a waiting boat?  At The Greenbank you can do just that. We are the only hotel in the south west to have our own private pontoons, so you can be picked up on the water right from our doorstep. We have the sunsets, the sunrises and the sea…some things are just as simple as that. Check out our Instagram for more stunning views by clicking here.

2. The history

Full of rich heritage and history, The Greenbank’s claim to fame is that in 1907, Florence Nightingale stayed here and her name can still be seen in the guest book on display by reception. Additionally, Kenneth Grahame stayed at the hotel between the spring and autumn of 1907. It was here that he wrote letters to his son, which later formed the stories for The Wind in the Willows. As well as this, Falmouth town also has a line-up of famous names and  historical battles that can still be felt in its atmosphere today. You’ll find nautical tales and never-told secrets hidden all around our vibrant seaside town. For those that want to know more history about the hotel, click here.

3. Combining characterful charm with modern luxury

Stylish, contemporary and fresh – when it comes to comfort and character, The Greenbank Hotel has it all. Immerse yourself in the building’s original architecture whilst relaxing in our modern comforts. The best of both worlds.

4. CORNISH ROOTS

There’s no question that Falmouth is full of Cornish charm. Most of the team at The Greenbank are Cornish born and will be able to tell you many ‘off the beaten track’ places to visit to get that truly Cornish experience. From little fishing coves to large stately homes, the best food markets to glorious gardens, feel like a local by exploring the unconventional spots around Cornwall this year. Click here to see what Cornwall has to offer.

5. Four-legged friends are welcome

We now offer our well behaved four-legged friends some much needed rest and relaxation after a day of chasing sticks on the beach. With a selection of dog friendly rooms, your pooch can stay for an additional £17.50 per night. During their stay we will include a blanket, water and food bowl for the night, and some gourmet treats supplied by Bob & Lush.

6. We’re going green

Not only are we a part of The Final Straw campaign and registered as a water refill station, the hotel is making a conscious decision to reduce its use of plastics. This is in progress by auditing all of the products used and replacing them with sustainable materials. To find out more, check out what our Sustainability Manager Owen has to say.

7. Our locally sourced food at the water’s edge

Mouth watering. Belly filling. Heart warming. Breathe in the scent of our cooked breakfasts as the sun rises or dive into the freshest seafood as a spring breeze whips across the bay. Perched perfectly on Falmouth harbour, our two AA rosette restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy the bounty of the Cornish waters. Our summer dinner menu includes daily changing chef recommendations, as well as gluten free and vegan options on request.

8. Plenty of room for everyone

At The Greenbank, our unique location, characterful heritage, contemporary styling and outstanding levels of service keep guests coming back, year after year. Stir from a deep sleep, lift your head from plush pillows, draw back the curtains to see sun-speckled waters and hear the sounds of the sea. Our perfectly appointed rooms make every day worth getting up for. Whether it’s a single, double, or family room you’re after, we’ve got the right space for your needs.

9. The Working Boat

Greenbank’s own local pub – The Working Boat – promises panoramic views and dreamy food. You can moor up and sink a few with our friendly staff who welcome all – big, small, old, young, canine or human. Sail up to our private pontoons and admire our enviable location. One to try: Dead Man’s Fingers (Cornish spiced rum!)

10. Fun for all the family

It’s all on your doorstep when you stay with us – from world-class sailing, wild swimming and paddle boarding to fishing, coasteering and kayaking. The Fal River is made up of a unique system of waterways which stretch from Truro to Falmouth. Cruise through the Carrick Road estuary to the Roseland peninsula, Truro or St Mawes – we can arrange it all for you. Not only do we have activities on the water, there are plenty of onshore activities to get stuck into as well. Click here for more events.
