Looking for things to do in Flushing? Keep on reading, as we’ve got just the guide to help you explore this picturesque village in as little as 24 hours…
8AM – 10AM: START YOUR DAY WITH BREAKFAST AT THE GREENBANK
Wake up to watch boats bobbing on the harbour from your harbour view room at The Greenbank. Head downstairs for a hearty Cornish breakfast of Kings (and Queens). Sip on your coffee from our waterside restaurant and fuel up for the day ahead.
Not staying with us? You can still join us for an early lunch or afternoon tea every day – browse our menus here.
10AM – 11:30AM: SAIL OR DRIVE TO FLUSHING
You have two options for your Flushing day trip. Either, hop aboard the Fal River Ferry which leaves from the Princes Charles pier, only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Dogs, babies, bikes are all welcome on the ferry which takes around 10 minutes to reach Flushing’s lapping shoreline. Ferries run throughout the year from 8.30am to 4.30pm. See the timetable.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to drive, the journey from The Greenbank takes around 15 minutes. Parking can be limited in Flushing, especially in the summer.
11AM – 3PM: TAKE A SCENIC WALK
One of the best things to do when you get over to Flushing is go for a big walk. If you are able to, then a circular walk to the nearby village of Mylor, is a worthwhile stomp.
The two to three hour round trip takes you along the riverside with great views of Falmouth, the Docks and Carrick Roads.
When you arrive at the harbour village of Mylor, nestled among resting sailboats, you can stop for lunch at the popular restaurant, Castaways. Head back to Flushing via the same route to avoid having to walk on narrow country lanes. If you’d rather do a slightly shorter stroll, take a meander from Flushing up to Trefusis point along the coastal path and via Flushing beach, with views across the Falmouth.
For lunch you have two pubs to choose from in Flushing, the Seven Stars and the Royal Standard.
3PM – 5PM: RELAX ON FLUSHING BEACH
Spend the afternoon kicking back on Flushing’s small but perfectly formed beach. With a gently sloping beach and often, crystal clear waters, it is the perfect place to take a dip. If you’d prefer to do something more adventurous, you can hire an SUP or kayak in the summer months from Coastal Rose hire shop on Flushing beach.
5PM – 7PM: HEAD BACK TO THE GREENBANK
Hop on board the Flushing Ferry once more and finish your journey back at The Greenbank. When you arrive back at our harbourside haven, why not join us for a tasty tipple or two in the Water’s Edge bar?
