The Greenbank Real Weddings: Sarah and Mark Simmons
All the team at The Greenbank Hotel love seeing our brides’ and grooms’ wedding photographs of their special day.
Here we feature Sarah and Mark Simmons, who got married at The Greenbank in Jthe summer of 2018. Sarah and Mark hosted their ceremony and reception in The Riverbank, which can hold up to 120 guests. After the ceremony, the happy couple invited their guests to the Water’s Edge bar for a few bellinis and Cornish brews before enjoying a three course meal in The Riverbank. The suite was decorated with 5 foot Love Lights and pink flower wreaths as centerpieces for the tables.
They ended the evening dancing away until midnight, overlooking the harbour.
Why did you choose The Greenbank as your venue?
As a family The Greenbank is ‘our hotel’. We celebrate special occasions at the hotel, have enjoyed Christmas lunch and love the afternoon teas! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the decor is beautiful. Add that with the stunning location and views – there was no question where we would hold our wedding!
What was the most special part of your wedding day?
We had been through some very difficult times as Mark was involved in a bad accident at work. Our wedding was the final part of a very long journey. Having all our family and friends there that supported us through a difficult period in our lives was amazing. To look around and see them all celebrating with us made our day.
Any advice for future brides planning their big day?
Don’t stress over the little things! I think a lot of bride & grooms feel immediate pressure when they say they’re planning their wedding but I never let it get to me or let other people influence me. Make sure you buy a note book and make lists!
Any advice for the grooms?
Enjoy the day as it goes so fast. Before you know it, the wedding party will be finished. Take some time through the day with your bride just as a couple, so you can just stop and share some time together and also to see your guests enjoying themselves.
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?
Not a thing! We loved every minute. It was everything we wanted. The Greenbank were outstanding!
