The Greenbank Real Weddings: Sally and Dorel Wells

The Greenbank team love seeing wedding photographs from our couples of their special day.

Here we feature Sally and Dorel Wells, who got married at The Greenbank in October 2018. Sally and Dorel hosted their reception in The Riverbank, which can hold up to 120 guests. After the ceremony in Lelant Church, the happy couple arrived by boat and invited their guests to the Water’s Edge bar for a few bellinis before enjoying a three course meal in The Riverbank.

They ended the evening dancing away until midnight to a live band, overlooking Falmouth harbour.

Why did you choose The Greenbank as your venue?

It was really a no brainer for us! We live in St Ives but spend a lot of time in Falmouth. We wanted to do something a bit different. After our first meeting with Jane, we just knew that we wanted to have our reception at the hotel. We love being on the river, so the venue was perfect.

What was the most special part of your wedding day?

Having all of our friends and family under one roof was the most amazing feeling. We had friends come from all over and so felt very lucky that we could all be together to celebrate. And celebrate we did! On a personal note, what made it that extra bit special was that my Uncle Tim was able to marry us in our local church.

Any advice for future brides planning their big day?

Just enjoy the process and try not to sweat the small stuff. Think about what is important to you and organise your day around those things. For us, friends and family being there, good food and a great band were all key and looking back that’s all that really mattered! The other piece of advice I would add is not to spend too much time on your table decorations – keep it simple! Although you have to be happy with how the tables look, by the time people walk through the door, they just want to eat, chat and dance!

Any advice for the grooms?

No doubt your wife to be will be organising the majority of the day but if she gives you a job or two during the run-up to the day, ensure you get it done and ask your mates to help. Oh, and don’t be late for the church!

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

Absolutely nothing! The best piece of advice I was given was to just enjoy every second and don’t worry about everybody else. The day ran so smoothly thanks to the amazing team at The Greenbank. We couldn’t have asked for anything else.
