The Greenbank Real Weddings: Amanda and Sam Goodwin

Here we feature Amanda and Sam Goodwin, who got married at The Greenbank in November. Amanda and Sam hosted their ceremony and reception in The Riverbank, which can hold up to 120 guests. After the ceremony, the happy couple invited their guests to the Water’s Edge bar for a mulled wine, as they had photos overlooking Falmouth harbour. Guests then tucked into a three course meal and finished the evening with a lot of dancing!
Why did you choose The Greenbank as your venue?
When we came to have a look around, my husband and I were blown away. Jane was amazing and made us feel at ease from the get go. The views are absolutely beautiful and the range in wedding packages on offer were extremely helpful when we had a large number of guests to cater for. Also, we had rain all day on our wedding and you would not even have known this. The hotel is just so picturesque. It did not hinder the atmosphere of the day at all and the photos still looked fantastic.
What was the most special part of your wedding day?
Looking from the top table seeing all of our guests smiling, happy and well catered for whilst enjoying our special day. A personal favourite part of the day for myself was coming into the room all decorated for the wedding breakfast – it was exactly how I envisioned it to the last detail. Outstanding and absolutely perfect! Also, the food was a taste sensation. All the guests complimented on how fabulous and rated it as 5* restaurant quality. It was said by one guest,“the food was the best food I’ve had at a wedding and I’ve been to a lot of weddings.”
Any advice for future brides planning their big day?
Advice for future brides would be make sure you take a step back during the day and to capture it in your head. If your phone is handy – take a picture of your guests from your perspective. As I have forgotten it all now.
Any advice for the grooms?
Advice for bride and groom: on the next day, make sure you arrange someone to collect all of your wedding things for you. We didn’t think about this for the day after the wedding. We found we spent the day after rushing around trying to make sure we had collected everything. The next day is time for you both as husband and wife!
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?
If we could do it all over again, the only thing we would change is to take a few days off work after the wedding to enjoy The Greenbank’s beautiful honeymoon suite and reminisce about the day before. Other than that, the whole wedding was just so perfect. We certainly would not change a thing!
