Our Beach Clean in Cornwall with Surfers Against Sewage
The Greenbank Hotel hosted our biggest Autumn Beach Clean in Cornwall to date! We had so many wonderful volunteers getting stuck in to find some of the quirkiest items. From tyres to wooden pallets, traffic cones to lighters, socks and sardine tins, we also managed to find various glass and ceramics alongside plastic bottles and containers.
We found many of the plastics intertwined with nature. This included a plastic tube that has made its way through a rock!
Being so close to the roadside, we found various car parts, including the foam that goes inside the seats. It then became a race to find the next unusual item!
It was great to see some regulars of The Greenbank and The Working Boat attending this beach clean. We also got to see some some new faces that wanted to do their bit for the planet.
Afterwards, everyone was rewarded in The Working Boat for all their hard work with a drink and some chunky chips to say thank you.
With nine Surfers Against Sewage bags full to the brim and many obscure parts to recycle, we had a blast – and hope all our volunteers did too! See you all next time for our Spring Beach Clean in 2019.
