Introducing our Operations Manager Luciana Rodriguez

From a nine-month plan to six years of Cornish adventures! We’re thrilled to announce Luciana’s recent promotion to Operations Manager.

After finishing her degree in Tourism and Hospitality in Buenos Aires, and with the cruise season in Argentina over, Luciana decided to move to England for a few months to travel and practice her English under a work and travel programme. Luciana’s original plan was to stay in the UK for no longer than nine months – but here she is, six years later, still in the UK.

Luci started working as a waitress in a hotel in Torquay and one year later was promoted to Bar Supervisor. She stayed there for three years until it was time for a change, and she decided to move to Cornwall. She arrived at The Greenbank Hotel, starting her journey as a bartender, and quickly ascending to the role of Bar Supervisor within a few short months. This year, she achieved another milestone, earning a well-deserved promotion to Operations Manager.

In Luciana’s free time, she enjoys going out to explore Cornwall. She also loves spending time reading and painting at home. A keen traveller, Luciana also likes to plan her future holidays.

Why did you want to be an Operations Manager?

I have always been passionate about the hospitality industry. After working for five years at The Greenbank in a customer-facing role, when the opportunity for growth and learning became available as an Operations Manager, I knew I wanted to further develop my skills in this industry.

What are your favourite things about your job?

What I like the most about my job is that I get to work with my Greenbank family. Being involved in all the departments, overseeing the day-to-day challenges, and remaining heavily involved in customer service are definitely my favourite aspects.

What is a typical day like for you at The Greenbank?

There isn’t a typical day here. Every day is different, and this is what makes my job so exciting, as it’s always evolving! There are always so many things going on… supporting all the departments, briefing with management, liaising with all the teams, and making sure all operations are running smoothly, while ensuring customers are happy. I love it.

Where in Cornwall would you recommend to guests as a must-see?

Actually, I think the question should be, where wouldn’t I recommend? There are so many stunning spots in Cornwall. From wonderful gardens such as The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the gorgeous Trebah Garden, to the sweeping shorelines and coasts like Fistral Beach and Porthcurno. I also like the quaint little villages and towns that you can find here, like Land’s End, St Ives, Padstow, and Polperro.

What makes Falmouth so special to you?

What makes Falmouth so special is obviously the location! I am so lucky to not just live here but also work in such a beautiful hotspot too. I love the cultural diversity here; there is always something going on. It’s such a vibrant town, full of art, and with so many lovely coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Can you sum up Cornwall in five words?

My home away from home.
