Holly’s Historic Cocktail Series: Hidden Secret
Looking for cocktails in Falmouth with a bit of history attached? Well look no further, as our Bar Manager Holly has created the perfect cocktail to impress your friends and family this month.
hidden secret: The history
This sumptuously sour cocktail creation is inspired by Sir John Killigrew, a member of the most powerful family in Cornwall in the 17th century. Mr Killigrew and his wife were thought to be embroiled in an infamous act of piracy just outside their home in Arwenack House, also known as the oldest building in Falmouth.
Stroll along Grove Place opposite Discovery Quay and you can see where the Cornish dynasty resided for 16 generations. Most intriguingly, across the road from Arwenack House stands a pyramid, built by one of the Killigrew family members. With its purpose uncertain, there are many wild tales and myths about the pyramid holding all of the family’s hidden secrets. Cocktails in Falmouth never got so exciting!
