falmouth week 2019

Thank you to everyone who came down to The Greenbank and The Working Boat events marquee on the quay and helped us celebrate in style this Falmouth Week. With a bit of a dramatic start, a weather warning meant plans changed, but a bit of rain and wind didn’t stop us from making the most of our favourite festival on the calendar! Here are our highlights from the week:

chefs on the quay

On the Wednesday of Falmouth Week, we hosted our first ever Chefs on the Quay charity event. We were joined by talented chefs from the local area, who worked together to whip up a six-course feast. Each chef took charge of one delicious dish, which was paired with a tasty tipple from sponsors, Sharp’s Brewery. Live music from Mog Jones and a charity auction entertained the crowds. We raised over £3000 for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, and Cornwall Air Ambulance’s New Heli Appeal.

THE OGGYMEN AND FEMMES DE LA MER

On Thursday, we had the pleasure of welcoming local shanty legends Femmes de la Mer, followed by The Oggymen. The Femmes are a 14 strong crew, hailing from across the county (from Heligan to Penzance and everywhere in between!) And The Oggymen boys have built a reputation for tight harmonies and inspiring performances that convey the rugged beauty of Cornwall.

GO GO SKANK

On Friday, the weather was pretty miserable once again, but that didn’t stop our fun. We partied hard until late to the infectious tunes of Go Go Skank! The band who hail from Porthleven take well-loved 80s classics and mash them up with a ska, reggae and rockabilly twist.

The fabulous Falmouth Soul Sensation rocked the tent on the Saturday night. Everyone was up on their feet and dancing the night away. Lots of tipples and tasty bites from our events menu were enjoyed by all, as the soul band did what they do best.

falmouth week fireworks

Falmouth Week wouldn’t be complete without the annual fireworks display. After a night of dancing and drinking, we had front row seats to the fireworks. They illuminated the harbour and our private pontoons beautifully.

Our Falmouth Week closing party, ‘Gin and Tea by the Sea,’ was the perfect way to end the celebrations. With a wide selection of discounted craft gins, we were spoiled for choice. A keepsake gin glass was gifted to everyone who attended, as well as entry to a brilliant gin masterclass and more partying in the marquee.
