What’s On in November: Cornwall’s Diary
With Christmas just around the corner, we can feel the festive charm of Cornwall coming into its own. With festivals, fairs and fireworks, there’s a lot going on this month to get you into that festive spirit. Explore our list of what’s on in November in Cornwall here…
13th October – 24th February: Ice Skating, Eden Project
Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank
A winter wonderland like no other. The ice rink at Eden is back and with a makeover! From complete novices to figure skating pros, everyone is welcome to enjoy the delights of the rink. If spectating is more your thing, why not snuggle up rink-side with a delicious hot chocolate whilst you cheer on your family and friends? This year, lessons are also available catering to all abilities, from ages 6 years and up.
7th – 8th NOVEMBER: CORNWALL MACMILLAN CHRISTMAS FAIR, EDEN PROJECT
Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank
Cornwall’s biggest and brightest Christmas fair is back, raising vital funds for Cornwall’s cancer patients. The Eden Project will play host to this wonderful fair, bringing with it a vast range of stalls from our county and beyond. You’ll be spoilt for choice with local food and drink produce, as well as an abundance of gifts, stocking fillers, clothing and jewellery. Tickets are £15, to include admission to Eden, a light lunch and drink.
8th November: An Evening on Board the Titanic, the greenbank hotel
Where: right on our doorstep!
Immerse yourself in a world of Edwardian elegance and step aboard the RMS Titanic for fine dining, fizz and foot-stomping fun. Enter our grand Water’s Edge cocktail bar for a glass of bubbles, before taking your seats for a three course meal inspired by the era. Whilst dining, meet the Titanic’s naval architect and discuss the latest fashions with ‘The Unsinkable’ Molly Brown. Hear tales about life on board by notable characters who will be joining us. After your meal based on the menu served on 14th April 1912, finish with foot-stomping in the lower decks to local folk band Jonah’s Lift.
9Th– 11th November: Bude Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival, bude
Where: 1 hour and 40 minutes from The Greenbank
Taking place at Penstowe Manor Resort, this weekend’s celebration of music has relocated from Ilfracombe to host a mix of unforgettable artists from the UK and around the world. With Wishbone Ash, Focus, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado headlining plus fifteen other bands in the line-up, this will undoubtedly be a great festival and one live music event not to miss in the South West.
10th – 11th NOVEMBER: CORNISH FILM FESTIVAL, THE POLY, FALMOUTH
Where: 10 minute walk from The Greenbank
The Cornish Film Festival is a huge showcase of the best local and international talents. The Poly will be screening local shorts and renowned classics for three days, in Falmouth’s quaint and inviting theatre. The film festival will shake up your cultural calendar with a thought-provoking and challenging showcase of independent cinema.
11tH November: Year of the quiz, the working boat
Where: right on our doorstep!
Get ready for the biggest quiz of the year as we celebrate a whole year since The Working Boat’s Sunday quiz first started! With prizes bigger and better than ever, will you be crowned the champions? Expect interactive challenges, our famous ‘spot the intro’ round and throwback questions that will test your knowledge. We’ll raise money for The University Hospital of Wales: Midwifery, Snowdrop Suite and Specialist Midwives.
15th – 18th November: Literary Festival, looe
Where: 1 hour and 20 minutes from The Greenbank
Become inspired with an eclectic celebration of thoughts, stories and words. With speakers and authors such as Paul Greenwood, author of ‘Fisherman and Lugger Sailor’, as well as Raynor Winn, Paul Hill, Emily Gosling, Vybarr Cregan-Reid plus so much more, this literary festival is not one to be miss this month.
17th November: The Cornish Winter Fair, royal cornwall showground, wadebridge
Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank
A celebration of all things Cornish, this winter fair will host plenty of farm animals that you can get up close to, a food and farming educational discovery zone, a ‘have a go’ station, which includes milking a mock cow and grooming a pony, and more. With an array of Cornish food and drink produce to try and buy, it’s a great chance to kick-start the Christmas shopping. The perfect day out for all the family.
17th – 18th November: Model Engineering Showcase, The National Maritime Museum
Where: 5 minute drive from The Greenbank
The Model Engineering Showcase will be an exciting event, bringing together members of Cornwall’s varied and diverse modelling community. Expect to see stunning models and expert live demonstrations, as well as getting involved yourself with activities for all ages. Nearly 200 models will be on display with exhibits from over 15 clubs and societies.
21st NOVEMBER: CITY OF LIGHTS, truro
Where: 20 minute drive from The Greenbank
Nothing heralds the beginning of the festive season quite like this magical midwinter lantern festival. The event is a vividly creative celebration incorporating art, music, dance and, of course, light. Admire giant handmade lanterns created by the community as they are carefully carried through the streets in a dazzling procession, then warm up with a hot toddy from one of Truro’s many shops or cafes.
23rd – 24th November: Shanty Shout Weekend, st ives
Where: 45 minutes from The Greenbank
Now in its third year, this unforgettable weekend of sea shanty singing is hosted by Bamaluz Bootleggers and will feature more than twenty groups singing at multiple venues in the town. Hear shanties from the likes of Acapella Moonshine, Cadgwith Singers, The Oggymen, and Stamp and Go, amongst many others. Entry to the venues are free, with the event’s nominated charity being Cornwall Air Ambulance and its new Heli Appeal.
24th November: St Austell Brewery Celtic Beer Festival, st austell
Where: 50 minute drive from the hotel or an easy train journey
The biggest party of the year for ale lovers across the county! Make your way to St Austell Brewery for a true taste of the South West’s best lagers, stouts and ciders. Enjoy live bands and sample nearly 200 tipples (including limited edition beers brewed just for the festival.)
24th – 25th November: Bedruthan Christmas Fayre, mawgan porth
Where: 55 minutes from The Greenbank
Featuring the most talented makers from Cornwall and beyond, Bedruthan Hotel’s Christmas Fayre offers three floor levels of stalls. This includes contemporary craft, ceramics, art, homewares, textiles, illustration, décor, gifts, fashion, accessories, food and drink, which will appeal to everyone. Tickets for a day are £1.50 per person.
24th November – 24th December: Father Christmas, Eden project
Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank
Every year, Father Christmas and his elves set up camp at the Eden Project. With letters to sort, presents to deliver, and a very important sleigh to prepare, Eden offers the perfect place for Santa to get the last minute tasks complete before the big night. Inside the cosy tent, you’ll get to see behind the scenes of his workshop. This includes the elves’ bunkbeds, pigeonholes full of letters and stockings laid out ready to fill with presents. Settle down for a story beside an open fire, where each child can enjoy a special moment with the man in red. *Selected dates only.
28th November – 2nd December: Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair, truro
Where: 20 minutes from The Greenbank
This popular fair offers the chance to buy great Cornish gifts and food for Christmas. Just under a hundred of the finest local businesses will be exhibiting, showcasing their unique items for sale. Think hand-crafted wall hangings, jigsaw puzzles, candles, pottery, clothing, calendars, chocolates, preserves and ales. A wonderful selection of goodies to suit all pockets!
29th NOVEMBER: CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON, falmouth

Join in the Christmas celebrations as Falmouth school children parade through the town to The Moor for the annual lights switch on. The children’s parade starts at Events Square and finishes on The Moor, where the schools perform Christmas songs and carols before the lights are switched on around 7pm. Lots of food, drink and festive fun to be had!
30th November – 2nd December: Christmas Market, fowey
Where: 1 hour 10 minutes from The Greenbank
Enjoy a weekend of festive entertainment, along with plenty of opportunities to pick up some ideal Christmas gifts in the stunning location of Fowey. One of the most well-known Christmas events, this Christmas market is one of the largest in the region, with over a hundred traders offering a wide selection of top quality food, drink and crafts.
