We’ve almost reached the end of 2020 (slight sigh of relief). Despite what’s going on in the world, we remain optimistic and are looking forward to another month in beautiful Cornwall. There’s still plenty going on, including ice-skating, afternoon tea parties, festive events and even a tree planting day! Without further ado, here are our top things to do in November in Cornwall.
1st November: DOGGY CHRISTMAS MARKET, wadebridge, royal cornwall showground
Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank
What is even better than Christmas you ask? Dogs at Christmas we say! This year the Royal Cornwall Showground will be hosting this pup-friendly Christmas festival that will be top of your dog’s November calendar. We can’t think of a more pawfect place to shop for your pampered pooches or dog-loving friends and family. From artisan doggy treats to grooming kits, snazzy new leads and plush dog beds, you’d be barking mad to miss this yuletide market.
1st – 30th november: CINEMA SHOWINGS AT THE PHOENIX, falmouth
Where: 15 minute walk from The Greenbank
There has never been a more crucial time to support our local cinemas. The Phoenix in Falmouth have some great movies scheduled throughout the rest of the year. And when the Cornish mizzle is threatening this winter, we can’t think of anything better than munching on popcorn in front of the big screen.

1st – 30th november: ICE-SKATING AT THE EDEN PROJECT, st austell
Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank
Skate your way through November with The Eden Project’s glittering ice rink. This annual tradition is one of our top things to do in November in Cornwall. Just remember to wrap up warm in woolly hats, scarves and jumpers before pirouetting across the ice.
5th & 14th november: TIN COAST WALKING TOURS, botallack mine
Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank
For coastal hikers or history enthusiasts, these guided walks that meander around Cornish tin mines and old engine houses are a must. Ben Sutcliffe and Mary Woodvine will lead a walking tour around Botallack Mine on 5th or 14th November.
6th november: THE ALVERTON’S WINTER SESSION WITH OUR ATLANTIC ROOTS, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Alverton
Following on from their popular Summer Garden Sessions, The Alverton Hotel presents the first Winter Session. They’ll be kicking things off with the fantastic indie-folk duo Our Atlantic Roots, who will perform to a socially distanced audience in the breath-takingly beautiful Great Hall. 7th november: THE ALVERTON’S AUTUMN AFTERNOON TEA PARTY, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Our sister hotel The Alverton are putting on a curiously wonderful autumn afternoon tea party this month. It’s time for tea in The Great Hall! Book a table of up to six guests and tuck into three tiers of delicious light bites and miniature delights. However, this is no ordinary afternoon tea. As well as being hosted in The Great Hall, The Alverton have invited local pianist Roger Miners along to entertain everybody.

8th november: COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING, mount pleasant eco park, porthtowan
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Mount Pleasant Eco Park are hosting a community day with the aim to plant hundreds of trees. Each volunteer will receive a free lunch for getting involved with the planting and pruning and the event is free to attend.
12th november: MURDER ON THE NILE, the greenbank hotel, falmouth – Postponed until the 14th january 2021.
Where: The Riverbank Suite
Join us in The Riverbank on 14th January for drama, scandal and murder. Performed by talented Cornish theatre group Murder by Appointment, dine on an exclusive three course menu and be transported from Cornwall to 1950s Egypt. You’ll be tasked with watching the plots unfold before piecing together the clues and determining who the killer is. Tickets are available to purchase from Eventbrite.
12th november: THE ALVERTON’S WINE AND CHEESE NIGHT, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Wine and cheese. Name a better duo? On Thursday 12th November The Alverton are hosting their first wine and cheese evening in The Great Hall. They’ll be joined by their knowledgeable drinks supplier Carl Burdett and cheese expert James Greet from The Greet Cheese. Slurp on red, white, rosé and sweet Italian tipples from Sicily and Sardinia, whilst listening to Carl discuss the different characteristics of each wine, paired with six delicious cheeses. 14th november – 20th december: HEALEYS CHRISTMAS MARKETS, healeys cider farm, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Get festive on the farm this winter with mulled cider, hearty food and Christmas cheer. The much anticipated Healeys Christmas markets are coming to town every weekend from 14th November. Have yourself a very happy Healeys Christmas.
15th november: CREATIVE ART JOURNALLING, jubilee wharf, penryn
Where: 5 minute drive from The Greenbank
Head to Penryn this month and get creative with an art journalling workshop. All you’ll need is your own A4 hardcover sketchbook and an interest in getting arty. All materials including inks, oil pastels, handmade papers and other recycled materials will be provided. Get stuck in with collage, stamping, mixed media pieces and creative writing. We think journalling is a fantastic hobby to take up, particularly during a pandemic to stay mindful and positive.
22ND November: THE ALVERTON’S FESTIVE AFTERNOON TEA PARTY, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
It’s never too early to get a little festive! The Alverton are offering an exclusive sneak peek of their much-loved festive afternoon tea and celebrating the December launch with a special sitting in The Great Hall. To put everyone in the Christmas spirit, pianist Roger Miners will be playing a jolly great set-list of everyone’s favourite carols and seasonal tunes. Sip on mulled wine and tuck into yuletide treats in the Cornish capital this month.

23rd november – 13th december: MADE IN CORNWALL CHRISTMAS FAIR, truro
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Head to Lemon Quay for The Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair. Despite a reduction in the number of traders allowed this year, it is great news that this event is still set to go ahead. A celebration of Cornish products, support local businesses this Christmas. Shop handcrafted jewellery, moreish fudge and sweet treats, dreamy artwork and other wonderful arts and crafts. When you’re done, why not pop up to see our sister hotel The Alverton for a warming tipple or two?
26th november: THE WORKING BOAT SUPPER CLUB – THE SEA AND STEAK NIGHT, FALMOUTH
Where: in our Working Boat pub
Head downstairs to The Working Boat for the first Supper Club on 26th November. Themed ‘The Sea and Steak Night’, our Executive Chef Nick Hodges will be serving up five courses of surf ‘n’ turf inspired cuisine, from succulent seafood to flame-licked steak. Get your weekend started a little early with a few tipples by opting for the accompanying beer flight, paired perfectly to each course by event sponsors Verdant Brewing Co. 26th – 29th november: THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS MARKET, wadebridge, royal cornwall showground

Step into a festive grotto during the last weekend of November at The Royal Cornwall Showground. To ensure everyone is safe, shoppers will have to pre-book their time slot and abide by social distancing and mask wearing rules. Although it’ll look a little different this year, the event still promises to be a magical affair.
