What’s On In November 2019: Cornwall’s Diary

Make sure you’re in the know this November, as there are tons of fun things going on in Cornwall this month. Be wowed by fireworks on bonfire night, head to a blues festival, and get ready for the start of the yuletide season – that’s right, Christmas is coming!

Where: 5 minute drive from The Greenbank

Start the month with a bang at the annual Falmouth Bonfire and Fireworks Night at the Falmouth Cricket Club. Watch the Cornish skies illuminated in bright colours at the spectacular fireworks display, light a sparkler and tuck into festival-style food including hot dogs, burgers and hog roast. Fairground rides, music and entertainment are all included in the £4 entry (£2 for children).

7th november: EDEN SLEEP OUT, the eden project, st austell

Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank

One of a number of locations hosting a Sleep Out event, this will be the Eden Project’s fifth year of being involved. Sleep Out is a nationwide event organised by the End Youth Homelessness (EYH) where volunteers gather to spend a night sleeping outside, to raise awareness and money for the 86,000 young people who experience homelessness in the UK. Swap the comfort of your bed for a sleeping bag and a cardboard mat, at this community-spirited event.

Where: in our Water’s Edge restaurant

Are you coming along to our Gatsby’s Gamble event? An immersive night of glitz, glamour, fine-dining and dramatics, ticket-holders will be attending a VIP party hosted by Jay Gatsby. Embracing the decadence of the roaring 1920s, we can’t wait for our murder mystery night to get underway.

8th – 10th november: BUDE BLUES, RHYTHM AND ROCK FESTIVAL, penstowe manor, bude

Where: 1 hour 40 minute drive from The Greenbank

Rock out at the Bude Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival, hosted at Penstowe Manor. A Cornish winter festival with an exciting line-up, choose from one of the three dates, or make a weekend of it!

10th november: remembrance sunday, kimberley park, falmouth

Where: 5 minute drive from The Greenbank

Gather at Kimberley Park in Falmouth on the 10th November to pay tribute to the service men and women who have sacrificed their lives during the war, on this nationwide day of respect.

Where: 15 minute drive from The Greenbank

Looking for the perfect Cornish Christmas gift? Local designers, artists and makers will be selling their homemade crafts at the Etsy Made Local Cornwall Christmas Fair in Penryn. Support local businesses and find a truly unique Christmas present (or a treat for yourself) at this festive event.

20th november: TRURO CITY OF LIGHTS, truro

Where: 25 minute drive from The Greenbank

One of the most magical nights of the year in the Cornish capital, there’s nothing like Truro City of Lights to get you feeling festive. The annual procession sees a glowing collection of hand-crafted lanterns made by schools and local community groups parade through the streets. Music and dance is also an important part of this event, including samba, brass bands, pipes and drums. Free to attend, it marks the start of Truro’s Christmas late night shopping and is a great family-friendly event. Look out for our sister hotel The Alverton who will be part of the parade, as community supporters.

22nd november: ROCK FOR HEROES, princess pavilion, falmouth

Where: 10 minute drive from The Greenbank

Kick-start the weekend and let your hair down at the Rock for Heroes concert at Princess Pavilion. Raising money for the charity Help for Heroes, music from world-renowned artists such as Queen, Bon Jovi and David Bowie will be performed by a full live rock band.

Where: 5 minute walk from The Greenbank

Step into Christmas at Falmouth’s Christmas Lights Switch On! Crowds gather every year on The Moor to watch as the town becomes immersed in colourful lights and festive decorations. Local schools will perform heart-warming carols, and Falmouth’s winner of the community champion award gets the all important job of switching on the town’s Christmas lights for 2019.
