What’s On In January 2020: Cornwall’s Diary
Happy New Year everyone! If you’re feeling the January blues and missing the festive period, we’ve got you covered. Have a read through the events happening this January and start 2020 in Cornwall as you mean to go on!
1st january: TRURO CHORAL SOCIETY: NEW YEAR’S DAY CONCERT, TRURO CATHEDRAL
Where: 20 minute drive from The Greenbank
Start the year on a high note with a special New Year’s Day concert from Truro Choral Society. Head to the stunning cathedral in Truro which will be filled with the melodic sounds of the talented local choir.
1st – 3rd january: STORYTELLING FOR CHRISTMAS, the minack theatre, porthcurno
Where: 1 hour 15 minute drive from The Greenbank
The Minack Theatre’s “storytelling for Christmas” continues into early January. End the festive period in true Cornish style with some local theatre against the stunning backdrop of Porthcurno Beach at the unique outdoor venue carved into the rugged cliff top.
until 5th january: TITANIC STORIES EXHIBITION, the national maritime museum, falmouth
Where: 5 minute drive from The Greenbank
There’s still time to check out the Titanic Stories exhibition at The National Maritime Museum. The museum have worked with private collectors overseas, as well as other national museums in the UK on this project. Wander through the exhibition and admire rare and never-seen-before objects and artifacts related to the Titanic disaster.

1st – 31st january: ICE-SKATING AT THE EDEN PROJECT, st austell

Glide into January with ice-skating at the Eden Project. Whether you’re a pro on the ice or trying something new this month, strap on your skates and show off your skills at Cornwall’s only indoor rink.
12th January: NORTH CORNWALL POINT TO POINT, royal cornwall events centre, wadebridge
Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank
Canter on down to the North Cornwall Point To Point horse racing event on the 12th January, hosted at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre in Wadebridge. Trade stands and light refreshments will be available, and this equestrian event is open to everyone.
7th, 14TH AND 21ST JANUARY: HISTORICAL GARDEN TOURS, THE LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN, ST AUSTELL
Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank
Learn all about the history behind the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Experienced Heligan tour guide David Hogg is running relaxed and informal tours explaining the fascinating history behind Europe’s largest garden restoration project.
18TH JANUARY: PRICKLES AND PAWS WILDLIFE WATCH WITH CORNWALL WILDLIFE TRUST, FIVE ACRES RESERVE, TRURO
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Get your little ones outdoors this January with an educational nature trail and wildlife watch with Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Follow the brilliant hedgehog rescue team on the prickles and paws wildlife watch, and learn all about these adorable woodland creatures.
22nd January: LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY WITH CORNWALL WILDLIFE TRUST, woon gumpas, pendeen
Where: 1 hour 5 minute drive from The Greenbank
Budding photographers, get snapping with this landscape photography event run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Take part in a 3-4 mile walk and capture landscapes including Chun Quoit and Pendeen Watch at sunset.
22nd – 26th january: HELSTON THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS “ALADDIN”, epworth hall, helston
Where: 30 minute drive from The Greenbank
Helston Theatre Company presents their magical rendition of the Disney classic, Aladdin. Dazzling costumes, exceptional sets and impressive special effects are expected at this family-friendly production. Get tickets to see the wonderful tale of Aladdin, the genie and the Princess.
