What’s on in Cornwall this March
Spring is just around the corner, which means there’s plenty of dates to add to your diary as the weather gets warmer and the evenings lighter.
From St Piran’s Day celebrations, to Mother’s Day afternoon tea, we’ve put together a carefully compiled list of things to do in Cornwall this March that will keep you busy.

Throughout March: Super Natural at Eden
Where: The Eden Project, St Austell
This fascinating exhibition explores humankind’s ever-evolving understanding of ourselves as a part of the natural world and the interdependencies between humans and plants. Wander through The Core Gallery which will comprise of a diversity of artworks that will examine and challenge your perception of the natural world and the human species role within it, through a focus on the relationship between people and plants.
The exhibition, which runs until 1st May, features artworks from international artists including Ai Weiwei, Kedisha Coakley, Patricia Domínguez, Iman Datoo, Ingela Ihrman and Eduardo Navarro. Admission is included as part of a general Eden ticket.

2nd march: THE COMEDY NETWORK at amata
Where: AMATA, Penryn
In need of a chuckle? Relax and unwind at this monthly Comedy Network comedy club shows. Gather your friends, grab a drink from the bar and enjoy laugh-out-loud comedy from some of the hottest up-and-coming comedians on the circuit.
4th March: CORNISH CRAFT BEER TASTING EVENING
Where: The Alverton, Truro
Do you know your IPAs from your EPAs? Your stouts from your porters? Then this just might be the event for you.
Head to The Alverton’s Great Hall on Saturday 4th March for a taste of craft beers and ales from some of the best breweries in Cornwall. Pale ales through to dark beers and everything in between will be on offer, alongside small batch, limited run brews for you to sample. Brewer in the making? Brewers will be on hand to give inside knowledge of their expert brewing practices.
Tickets are £20 and include six tasting flights of craft beers, a small selection of snacks and a pasty. All profits go towards Children’s Hospice South West.
4th-6th March: ST PIRAN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
Where: Towns across Cornwall
St Piran’s Day (Gool Peran in Cornish) is Cornwall’s official national day and takes place on Sunday 5th March. There are no shortage of ways to celebrate on St Piran’s weekend, with many Cornish towns doing their own festivities.
On Saturday 4th March, Truro will host a day of St Piran’s inspired celebrations including a farmer’s market, a tense pasty competition and a dance workshop. The festivities will culminate in a St Piran’s Day parade to the tune of Cornish songs and a special performance by the City of Truro male choir. Meanwhile, Redruth will be holding their own festivities including a parade, Cornish singers and plenty of family-friendly workshops. On Monday 6th March, Falmouth will host a unique parade through the town centre that is well worth a watch.

14th march: DRINK AND DRAW
Where: The Poly, Falmouth
Fancy yourself an amateur artist? Head down to The Poly in Falmouth this March to try your hand at costumed life drawing. This month’s session will focus on drawing models in costumes from
Ancient Greece. Whether you’re an amateur scribbler or an experienced artist, this event is for all to enjoy as you draw the costumes of Europe’s most infamous civilization.
All materials will be provided as well as a complimentary glass of wine to get the creative juices flowing. The session runs from 7pm until 9pm and is open to all abilities. Tickets are £10 including a glass of wine.

18th march: BEANS ON TOAST at the cornish bank
Where: The Cornish Bank, Falmouth
Renegade folk musician Beans On Toast returns to Falmouth after his sell-out show last year. Expect storytelling folk music made for modern times, as one man and his guitar tackle the big issues of the day whilst celebrating all that is wonderful about the human spirit.
Revel in the sounds of Beans’ unique songs as you take in the surroundings of Falmouth’s newest music venue. Once an old bank, hence the name, it’s become the ultimate spot to enjoy Cornwall’s impressive music and arts scene.
19th march: mother’s day afternoon tea
Where: The Greenbank, Falmouth
Mother’s Day is the perfect excuse to show mums just how much you care. And what better way to show your love than with a sumptuous afternoon tea in The Riverbank.
Drink in the scenic views of the River Fal whilst working your way down three tiers of delicious sweet and savoury treats, all washed down with a pot of tea or cup of coffee.
Even better, all mums will receive a complimentary glass of fizz as a thank you for all they do.

24th March: THE GREAT HALL CHARITY QUIZ
Where: The Alverton, Truro
Head to our sister hotel, The Alverton’s historical Great Hall on Friday 24th March and put your knowledge to the test, while raising money for our partner charity, the Cornwall Community Foundation.
For the ultimate quiz night in Truro, arrive at 6.30pm in The Great Hall before taking your seat for the very exciting quiz, which begins at 6.45pm. Test your knowledge through the rounds that include everything from pop culture to history and much more.
Will you be triumphant in earning one of the incredible prizes? You could be in with the chance of winning an afternoon tea, cocktails or even a three course dinner at The Alverton. Not feeling confident in your general knowledge? Fear not, as there will also be a raffle running alongside the quiz throughout the evening, with plenty of amazing prizes.
Tickets cost £10 each, and can only be purchased as a table of four.
