With live music finally back on the cards, and lots of great family fun days out, crafting workshops and theatrical performances to enjoy throughout the month, you won’t be short on things to keep you busy in Cornwall this August.


4th – 27th August: BEACH EXPLORERS, Tate St Ives

Where: 55 minute drive from The Greenbank

Created exclusively for those with an adventurous spirit! This exciting event from Tate St Ives will keep your little explorers entertained all summer long. Join the Tate gang every Wednesday or Friday lunch-time in August on Porthmeor beach for an afternoon of exploration.

Walk along the sandy white beach and see what interesting things you can find, before using your items to create some amazing beach art.

This event is free for all children aged five to twelve. So just turn up with your little ones ready to feel inspired. Find out more here.

6th – 20th August: Paul Ainsworth’s Travelling Feast, Varied locations

Where: 20 minutes – 1 hour minute drive from The Greenbank, depending on location

For all foodies, this is an event not to be missed. Celebrity chef and Cornish personality, Paul Ainsworth, will be taking his culinary skills on the road with this brand new month-long festival event happening all over Cornwall this August.

Join Ainsworth and friends as you tuck into delicious cuisine, enjoy some funky tunes and take part in some family-friendly beach fun. Choose from eight different stunning locations across the region including Royal Cornwall Showground, Boconnoc Estate and Scorrier House.

6th – 27th August: Seaglass Jewellery making workshop, falmouth

Where: 5 minute walk from The Greenbank

If you’re looking to get creative with your hands next month, this workshop from Inspire Makers should be on the top of the to do list.

Join the talented team from Porth Jewellery, who will guide you through the process of creating and welding you’re very own piece of sea glass jewellery. From learning to sold, to adding texture to silver and even setting sea glass, with this day long workshop you’ll become a silver-smithing expert before you know it.

Also if you’re a beach explorer, you’re welcome to bring your own piece of sea glass to the workshop too, to add to your necklace, bracelet, or ring.

Throughout August: Wavelength presents: Drive-In Cinema, Watergate Bay

Where: 50 minutes from The Greenbank

Enjoy cult classics from the cliff tops of Cornwall this August. With a variety of top flicks listed, from Mama Mia to Point Break, you can enjoy your favourite films against the stunning backdrop of Watergate Bay. Perfect for the whole family, sit back and relax with your chosen snacks and tipples.

THROUGHOUT August: THE ALVERTON SUMMER GARDEN SESSIONS, TRURO

Where: 25 minute drive from The Greenbank

Bask in the natural beauty of The Alverton’s private gardens, dine al fresco on their sun-drenched terrace and listen to dreamy acoustic music at their Summer Garden Sessions. With homegrown Cornish talents playing on eight different evenings throughout the summer, all tickets include reserved seating and a cocktail of your choice on arrival. 13th August: Romeo and Juliet, Trebah Gardens, Durgan

Where: 15 minute drive from The Greenbank

It may be a tale as old as time, but The Duke’s Theatre Company’s latest performance of Romeo and Juliet is a fresh new take on this classic story. Filled to the brim with live music and energetic performances, kids and adults alike will love this theatrical event that takes place against the stunning backdrop of Trebah’s sub-tropical gardens.

Throughout August: Summer of celebration at Eden project, St Austell

Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank

No-one quite knows how to celebrate the summer in style like the Eden Project. Head to the former clay pit in St Austell to enjoy pop-up theatrical performances, live music, carnival events and so much more, for what will be a true celebration of summer in Cornwall.

13th – 15th August: Falmouth Week at the working boat, falmouth

Where: Just below The Greenbank

After a year-long hiatus, Falmouth Week is back! Yet again, we’re proud sponsors of this festival. And we’re itching to celebrate on our mar-quay by the sea. Head down to The Working Boat to celebrate the week in style with a selection of music and boat racing events that are taking place on our very own quay. Dance the night away with the help of musical talents Jonah’s Lift (13th August) and Falmouth Soul Sensation (14th August), or get involved in a high adrenaline Dragon Boat Race event (15th August) and spur on your favourite team.

We’ll also be preparing scrumptious homemade pizzas in our exterior pizza oven, as well as serving our pub grub daily from midday. Keep up to date via our Facebook page. Even better – all events are free!

17th – 19th August: A GRAND FAMILY DAY, PENDENNIS CASTLE

Where: 20 minute walk from The Greenbank

Your little ones will love exploring the sights and sounds of battle during this fun-filled day out in Cornwall. After wandering around the medieval castle built by Henry VIII, kids and adults alike will enjoy watching some great entertainment from local performers, as well as taking part in plenty of games and fun.

27TH – 29TH aUGUST: gREAT eSTATE FESTIVAL

Where: 20 minute drive from The Greenbank

Get your dancing shoes ready for this spectacular festival taking place at the end of next month. The Great Estate Festival, based at Scorrier house in Redruth, is a fantastic event which brings together local artists, entertainers and fun-filled events for a three day day spectacle where anything goes.

Whether you’re hoping to catch your favourite band, or enjoy the Grand Cinematic Experience, don’t forget to pack your glitter for some serious festival looks.
