We’ve Raised Over £4000 For Charity This Year So Far
Through hosting two exciting summer events, alongside a weekly pub quiz in our adjoining pub, The Working Boat, we have raised a total of £4,010 for local Cornish charities.
Dragon Boat Race
On Saturday 27th July, we welcomed around 30 teams to take part in the annual Dragon Boat Race. We donated a portion of food and drink sales throughout the day to local men’s mental health charity, Man Down.
In a nail-biting final just off the shores of the hotel, Westover Surgery took the 2024 title. Support from the local community brought an overwhelming feeling of togetherness to the day. Thanks to your generosity, we raised a total of £1,114.
Pink Wig Pre-Party
On Friday 9th August, our annual Pink Wig Pre-party kicked off this year’s Falmouth Week in style. Hundreds of pink wig wearers gathered in our waterfront marquee before their march through Falmouth, led by the iconic Betty Stogs and the Falmouth Marine band. Now in its twelfth year, the Pink Wig night is not only an incredible way to raise awareness around breast cancer, but also allows for thousands of pounds to be raised. The money raised supports vital equipment and research into earlier diagnosis and better treatments for breast cancer.
We donated a portion of food sales and 50% of all cocktail sales from our special Pink Wig cocktail menu, created exclusively for the event. In total, thanks to our attendees’ support, we raised £1,142 for Pink Wig.

Weekly charity pub quiz
Every Sunday, our below deck pub, The Working Boat, has hosted a pub quiz to raise money for a selection of charities close to our teams’ hearts. From St Petrocs and Parkinsons UK, to Treliske’s Neonatal Unit and the Falmouth Community Football Club, thanks to our pub-goers’ generosity, we have raised a total of £1,232 so far this year.
Fish and Chip Fridays
Throughout August, The Working Boat and our sister hotels, The Alverton and The Falmouth, have hosted fish and chip Fridays in aid of the RNLI. Including this donation from The Cornwall Hotel Collection, we’ve raised a total of £4,010 for charity, and the year is not over yet.
