Hold each other close, winter is well and truly upon us and summer seems a long, long way away.

It’s always warm and welcoming at the Greenbank, but as we’ve all got to venture outside at one point, we’ve researched where to keep warm when out and about in Falmouth during the frostier months of the year:

The Poly

Always keen to get grey matter whirring, The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society (otherwise known as ‘The Poly’) are innovators of the arts and sciences; and their grade II listed building is just the place to warm up physically as well as intellectually.

Film screenings, talks, workshops, comedy shows and exhibitions are shown throughout the year and are excellent opportunities for some culture when things get cold.

Telltales

Anyone visiting the town with a penchant for prose should make note of Telltales: specialist evenings promoting the written, spoken and performed word – wholly embracing the creative, artisan nature of Falmouth.

There’s no pressure to perform, and audience members are welcome to drink in the literature, which was especially true at their December rendezvous at Dolly’s Wine Bar.

The Phoenix
