See Falmouth from a whole new viewpoint as you make your way from Flushing to Mylor.

Distance: two miles

This easy-going walk will take you about two hours, between the wistful waterside villages of Flushing (just across the water from The Greenbank) and Mylor, famed for its sailing facilities. Begin in Flushing village and make your way down the harbour, walking past the pastel painted cottages you may have admired from a distance across the river.

Why not stop for a dip?

Pass Flushing Sailing Club and follow the road towards Flushing Beach, a modest cove with golden sand, surrounded by a woodland of bushy green trees. Take note, a this presents a wonderful opportunity for dipping a toe for those who might like to cool down on the way back.

Keep going until the road becomes a footpath, leading you through lush green fields that overlook the bobbing boats and lazy marine activity on the Carrick Roads.

Enjoy the view

At Trefusis Point, you may come across grazing cattle making their way slowly across the turf, so make sure to read sensitively so as to avoid disturbing the animals. Back in the 16th century, Henry VIII planned to build a third Cornish castle here, to accompany Pendennis and St Mawes. However, finances ran dry and the land was left untouched.

When you spot Restronguet Sailing Club and the rows of impressive yachts at Mylor Harbour, you’ve come to the end of your trail. This make for a perfect opportunity to enjoy a seat and a hot drink at Café Mylor, served, as always, with stunning harbour views.

When you feel replenished, turn and make your way back, not forgetting your swimming spot, if it should take your fancy.
