Distance: five miles
Starting at the docks, make your way towards Pendennis Castle. Henry VIII’s Tudor castle fortress is a popular tourist attraction. Spot ancient cannons and stone turrets, walk the dehydrated moat, and emerge at Pendennis point. Here you’ll have clear views across the Carrick Roads towards St Mawes and St Anthony’s Lighthouse.
Why not stop for a dip?
Continue around the headland, making your way along Falmouth’s famous seafront. Castle Beach and Gyllyngvase Beach reside along this stretch, perfect for rock-pooling, sunbathing, paddleboarding, or swimming. If you brought your swimwear, there’s nothing to stop you from dipping at toe…
Finally, head downhill towards Swanpool Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The lake is a popular running route, home to seabirds and ducks, and sits opposite Swanpool Beach. Treat yourself to a hot chocolate, or one of the famous hedgehog ice-creams at the beach café.
