TAKE A STROLL THROUGH THE BLUEBELLS

May time, floods it’s fields with the bloom of spring bluebells resembling a fairy-tale. The garden also gives itself as a habitat to conifers, rare Cornish apple trees, many flower gardens and ponds. Being only 10 minutes away from The Greenbank Hotel, it’s a must see when in Falmouth. WALK ON WATER
When: everyday
Springtime at The Greenbank means the sun hitting our quay, which lends itself excellently to water activities. A huge favourite is SUP. The mostly calm harbour gives plenty of open space for novices and experts to join in the hobby. Whether you have enough expertise to paddle across the river to Flushing for an ice-cream, or spend most of the time getting wet near shore – it’s one of the best ways to embrace the spring-time sun in Falmouth.

SUNNY REFRESHMENTS WITH LOCAL ALES

For all the beer fans far and wide, Cornwall produces some of the best. Verdant Brewery – infamous in the craft brewing world – is a mere 8 minute drive from The Greenbank. What’s even better is our pub The Working Boat has three Verdant taps (the freshest hops you can get!). Our pub’s top pick for a springtime refreshment is Verdant’s Headband. A delicious New England Style IPA with hints of candied pineapple, nothing’s better to quench your thirst than a pint of Headband poured at The Working Boat – sitting on our quay.

A BREATH OF SPRING AIR
When: to be confirmed
Stretch away the winter blues and say hello to a new season with some beach yoga and meditation. Falmouth lends itself to a host of rare experiences, many being on our beautiful beaches – most around 15 minutes away from The Greenbank. An ever-growing favourite in the Cornish mindfulness scene, Cornish based teacher Lily Wild Yoga holds early morning sessions on Gyllyngvase beach when she’s not in Sri Lanka passing on her knowledge. Her practises use a technique called ‘sound bathing’, a ceremonial experience which uses sounds to relax and heal participants from the inside out.
Mixed with the meditative state and focusing the body through yoga – sessions are guaranteed to leave you grounded and refreshed. If you were interested in trying something new this spring, you can find Lily Wild Yoga’s contact details on Instagram, or look out for weekly sessions with WESUP.
PICK SOME DAFFODILS
When: Throughout spring
Take a visit to one of the most beloved stalls in Falmouth. Perched on the entrance to the Prince of Wales pier is a very yellow hut with some very yellow flowers – our local daffodil stall. Rain or shine you’ll always be met with a smile from the gentleman who mans the yellow hut. Daffodils have a strong affiliation with Cornish heritage, so why not brighten up your day?
There’s no better way to pick up the nation’s favourite springtime bloom.
