Top five Father’s Day activities in Cornwall
Father’s Day is fast approaching and to help you celebrate, we’re offering a fabulous three course Sunday roast, including a pint for all dads, for just £26.95 for adults and £12.95 for children under 12.
And if you want to make it an extra special Father’s Day, here are our top five activities you can do with your dad to show just how much you appreciate him…
A scenic round of golf
We’re spoilt for choice in Cornwall, and there are several outstanding courses within driving distance. Falmouth Golf Course has sweeping views from Pendennis Castle down to the Lizard. Or you could head to the north coast to Perranporth or Newquay, two of Cornwall’s finest links golf courses – both with spectacular views over the Atlantic.
Hire a boat and explore the Carrick roads
Discover the hidden creeks, waterside pubs, and scenic, secluded waters just up the estuary from Falmouth. You can hire a range of boats at Mylor Yacht Harbour, from family motor boats to traditional sail boats. You don’t need to be an experienced sailor though – the team there will explain all the safety information and how to control the boat so dad can be captain for the day. You can even launch straight from our pontoons! Explore our range of ‘on the water’ activities here.
Fish for your supper
If we haven’t managed to fill you up, you and dad can fish for supper. You can take a sea fishing trip from Falmouth and catch cod, pollock or tasty Cornish mackerel. Falmouth Fishing Trips have been running trips by boat since the 1950s, or take a look at Cornwall Fishing Adventures who offer guided shore fishing (with all your bait and equipment provided.)
Argal Reservoir, near Mabe, is also well-stocked and has self-service permits available if just the two of you fancy giving it a go alone.
Hire a classic car
Has dad always dreamed of owning a sports car? If your budget can’t stretch to actually buying him the classic car he’s been talking about for years, how about treating him to hiring one for the day and exploring the winding lanes of the Cornish countryside with the wind in your hair? Hire a Morgan from Perranwell Garage.
Take a brewery or cyder farm tour
For the ale drinkers, a brewery tour at Skinner’s Brewery in Truro is sure to get you in dad’s good books. Although you can’t do this tour on a Sunday, I’m sure he’ll forgive you after he’s sampled enough of their fine Cornish ales!
Or if his preferred tipple is cider, head to Healey’s Cyder Farm, just off the A30, where you can see their state-of-the-art production facility via an aerial walkway, take a trip through the orchards on a tractor, see their distillery (where they make England’s oldest whiskey) and of course sample some of their finest cyder!
Of course, you could just put your feet up and let us do the hard work for you. Book your Father’s Day lunch at our Water’s Edge restaurant by calling 01326 312440.
