Three very Cornish ways to tackle your New Year’s resolution
It’s that time of year again. Everyone suddenly has a gym membership, diet books are flying off the shelves and dry January has emptied every pub in town. But amid all the best intentions, how long will yours last? Here’s our guide to using our beloved Cornwall to your advantage.
Resolution 1: Get Fit
Make the most of the landscape. Because what’s the point of being somewhere as glorious as Cornwall if you’re not going to get outdoors and enjoy it? One of the keys to keeping your resolutions is to start small. We might all tell ourselves that we’re going to run a marathon one day, but introducing just one long coastal walk into your routine every week is a great way to start.
Resolution 2: Quit Smoking
Stay busy and make Cornwall your distraction. This might be at home – shelf building, shed tidying, cupboard sorting – or out and about. Try a new sport, find a hobby or decide on a project to sink your teeth into that can become your go-to when cravings strike. Research has also shown that during exercise the urge to smoke is substantially decreased, so hop on your bike and take on one of the many trails around the county.
Resolution 3: Spend Less
One of the perks of being lucky enough to live in a tourist destination is that deals abound. Choose wisely and you’ll easily be able to save a penny or two. A Friday night catch-up with the girls? Try our 2 for £10 cocktails overlooking the harbour. Hoping to save but still want to dine out now and again? The Working Boat’s Fish & Chip Friday offers a hearty meal for just £7.95!
And don’t forget to reward yourself. Okay so perhaps this isn’t a resolution, but we think it might be the most important of them all – rewarding yourself for reaching your targets! Whether your idea of a good time is, be it a couple of drinks, a big lunch, or a couple of days away from it all, The Greenbank has something for everyone.
