The Greenbank & The Alverton: Major New Heli Appeal partners
Cornwall Air Ambulance’s New Heli Appeal
We’re excited to announce that alongside our sister hotel The Alverton, we are backing the campaign to bring a new air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall.
The Greenbank and The Alverton are the latest businesses to become major New Heli Appeal Partners with Cornwall Air Ambulance. Over the next year, we will aim to raise £20,000 for the lifesaving charity, which relies on donations to provide a helicopter emergency service for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Ben Young, Managing Director of The Greenbank and The Alverton, said: “We recently learnt that whilst 20% of Cornwall Air Ambulance’s vital lifesaving work in Cornwall is for the benefit of our out-of-county visitors, less than 5% of the required revenues come from the tourism sector. It is our responsibility as hoteliers to do our bit to make a difference to this surprising statistic, by our deeds and not by our words.”
“We have therefore put together a range of activities in support of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, and specifically the exciting New Heli Appeal. We have ambitious plans to raise £10,000 per hotel and hope to exceed this!”
“Our team are looking forward to taking part in sponsored walks from Falmouth to Truro, hosting grand gala fundraising nights, foodie events, donations, collections, and so much more. With over £20,000 to raise, it’s going to be a huge concerted team effort to maximise impact across both hotels.”
The £2.5 million New Heli Appeal was launched in 2018 with the aim of bringing a faster and more powerful air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly by April 2020.
Steph Preston-Evans, Corporate Fundraising Officer with Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “It’s so exciting to have these two amazing hotels join as New Heli Appeal partners, so a huge thank you to them for pledging their support to the charity.
Over the next year they will be helping to raise money, but also importantly to raise awareness about the appeal to visitors to Cornwall. They have lots of great fundraising ideas and we look forward to working alongside them.”
