Surfers Against Sewage Beach Clean: 25th October 2019
The Greenbank Hotel, in collaboration with Sharp’s Brewery, is inviting everyone from the community and beyond to our bi-annual beach clean. Join us on Friday 25th October from 11am until 1pm on Greenbank beach, Falmouth – located just behind the hotel. We’ll be meeting at The Working Boat.

Sponsored by Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery, participants over the age of 18 will receive a free pint of Working Boat ale at the end of the clean as a great big thanks for their efforts. Most importantly, the clean is a part of Surfers Against Sewage’s ‘Summit to Sea Autumn Beach Clean’ campaign. It is the largest and most effective volunteer beach cleaning project in the UK.

In the autumn, when the evenings are starting to get darker and colder, our coastlines slip from the nation’s minds. “It brings those of us who use our beaches year round together. Uniting, inspiring and empowering hundreds of coastal communities to take action to remove and recycle many tonnes of marine plastic pollution, as we seek to create plastic free coastlines” explains Surfers Against Sewage.
Greenbank beach offers unique and interesting finds due to the amount of shipwrecks along the harbourside. Consequently, it has been known to bring items onto the beach. Previous cleans have brought up various random objects. You may find wooden pallets, traffic cones, lighters, sardine tins and even rusty old sinks!
Meeting at The Working Boat on Friday 25th October at 11am, the Greenbank beach needs your helping hands. Please register your interest by clicking here so we can gauge numbers of people attending. We hope you can make it! SAS recycling bags and gloves will be provided for our volunteers, but it would be great if you could bring your own litter pickers if you’d like them, and wear wellies. Also, please note, one of our beaches can only be accessed by a ladder.
