Our favourite things to do during the Summer Holidays 2018

School’s out! With plenty of things to do in Cornwall this summer to keep all the family entertained, we’ve gathered a hit-list of what not to miss. Expect adventure, magical worlds, hidden locations and mythical creatures this summer holiday…

25th june – 31st August: Wild Summer, the Eden Project

Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank

This July and August, the Eden Project will host a series of wild summer sessions, perfect for families and kids aged up to 14 years old. Consisting of family adventure days and a children’s club full of craft and creativity, physical and practical challenges, campfire cooking and making new friends, the sessions will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the summer holidays. All must be booked in advance with refreshments included.

19th july – 28th august: Oliver! With Sterts Theatre Company, liskeard

Where: 1 hour from The Greenbank

Consider yourself at home with the classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel directed by Mark Sidey. Fun for all the family, this award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece.

30th July – 3rd August: Alice, the Minack Theatre

Where: 1 hour and 20 minutes from The Greenbank

Based on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Laura Wade’s Alice breathes exciting new life to a much-loved story. Be prepared to join Alice as she travels down the rabbit hole to a wonderland like you’ve never seen before. Performed on the Minack Theatre stage, overlooking the breath-taking coast, this event is one for all the family to enjoy.



1st August – 5th August: Circus Funtasia, all over cornwall

Where: right on our doorstep!

Spectacular fire-breathing stunts, death-defying motorbike riders, thrill-seeking acrobats and much more awaits you at Circus Funtasia. Back with a brand new show for 2018, be prepared to witness a whip-cracking storm of a show with awe-inspiring aerialists, jugglers, tightrope walkers, plus the return of the famous clown Emilion. This family show promises laughter and surprises for all ages and is not one to miss.

Play Fest 2nd August – 3rd August

Where: 25 minutes from The Greenbank

Part of National Playday, PLAYFEST 2018 is a two-day festival to celebrate children and their right to play. National Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives and continues to celebrate with a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy. Expect circus skill workshops, have-a-go sessions, entertainers, stalls, face painting, music, dance, arts and crafts workshops and fairground rides. A free event for all to enjoy.

10th August: Solstice – Tales of Midsummer by To Life Theatre, penzance

Where: 50 minutes from The Greenbank

Prepare for an evening of magic and mystery in this immersive theatre experience at Penlee Park. Based on ancient midsummer mythology and folklore, experience a bewitching journey of the summer solstice, with kings and fairies, battles and celebrations, as well as rewards and retributions. As a one off event, this is one not to miss.

10th August – 24th August: Badger Forest School, Wheal Martyn 

Where: 50 minutes from The Greenbank

Between 11am and 1pm on Friday 10th August and Friday 24th August, families can take part in a range of exciting outdoor activities including campfire cooking, den building, nature crafts, scavenger hunts and lots more. Sessions will include a drink, snack and museum entry for the day.

17th August – 2nd September: Rogue Theatre Summer Events, tehidy woods

Where: 35 minutes from The Greenbank

Leave the path and step into a fairy tale with Rogue Theatre, who are performing a spellbinding summer double-bill of two plays. This immersive theatre adventure starts with an enthralling journey along the wandering paths of Cornwall’s breathtakingly beautiful Tehidy Woods, weaving through to a wild world of magic.
