14TH – 24th march: FALMOUTH SPRING FESTIVAL

A wonderful early season celebration of coast, community and culture. This vibrant community event brings an explosion of early colour to the town whilst celebrating our open spaces with activities like ‘paint the town yellow’ day, spring cleans, rock-pooling sessions, a folk and cider fayre and a host of guided walks.

26th – 28th APRIL: PORTHLEVEN FOOD FESTIVAL

Now in its eleventh year, this festival brings people together for a weekend of Cornish food, beer and bands in the little harbour town of Porthleven. Fill your shopping bags, eat yourself silly, and drink until you’re merry. Expect over 90 food and craft stalls and all day cookery demos from some of the UK’s biggest names.

8TH MAY: FLORA DAY, HELSTON

Helston will be decked out with bluebells, gorse and laurel leaves, with dancing starting at 7am. Not long after, the Hal-an-Tow (a boisterous mummers’ play featuring St George slaying the dragon) begins. Visitors can also watch the children’s dance, the formal midday dance, and an evening dance to round off the day. The streets will be buzzing with packed pubs, a fairground and stalls – and there’s a carnival atmosphere from dawn to well into the night.

24TH MAY – 2nd JUNE: FAL RIVER FESTIVAL

This festival embraces the places, people, history, culture and industry connected to this very Cornish river. It encompasses over 150 events ranging from music and drama, arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming and wildlife walks. Established in 2006 it will be running for its 14th year.

6TH – 8TH JUNE: ROYAL CORNWALL SHOW, WADEBRIDGE

The county’s biggest annual event, the Royal Cornwall Show is brim-full of exhibits and activities which offer so much in the way of entertainment, competition, information, shopping and all that’s best in food and farming. This has been Cornwall’s showcase since it was first held back in 1793 and as you’d expect from a county show, a fascinating glimpse into rural life in the county.

14th – 16TH JUNE: FALMOUTH INTERNATIONAL SEA SHANTY FESTIVAL

Raising money for the RNLI, this festival hosts performances by dozens of groups throughout the UK and beyond. Described as the largest free festival of maritime music on the planet, it is the perfect way to soak up the true atmosphere of Falmouth’s seafaring past. The Working Boat will be an official venue too!

14th – 16TH JUNE: FALMOUTH CLASSICS REGATTA

We are thrilled to be a Major Sponsor of this event. Classic boats from many parts of the country, the continent and the local area will take part, with vessels built as long ago as 1882 cruising alongside more modern versions. Don’t miss the Parade of Sail and Power, where the boats sail out into Carrick Roads, making a magnificent spectacle.

15TH JULY: STITHIANS AGRICULTURAL SHOW

Cornwall’s biggest one day agricultural show has been held annually since the early 1800s – originally as a competition between locals to see who could grow the tastiest vegetables, raise the finest cattle and breed the best horses. These days, alongside the livestock competitions, you will also find music, food courts, craft stalls, fairground rides and classic cars.

9TH – 18TH AUGUST: FALMOUTH WEEK

Falmouth Week’s entertainment marquee will bring a full and varied programme of artists and bands every evening, as it has done for generations of revellers. From sailing to shore-side activities, including craft markets, carnival, fireworks over the water and fancy dress spectaculars. Keep your eyes peeled for what we’ll be planning in The Working Boat that week!

10th – 13th October: FALMOUTH OYSTER FESTIVAL

Celebrating the start of the oyster dredging season, Falmouth Oyster Festival will be celebrating its 20th year with a big birthday bash! Expect a packed programme of cookery demos, Working Boat race, sea shanties, dancing and seafood. Freshly shucked oysters will of course be the star of the show, and they’ll be plenty of wine and beer to enjoy them with. THROUGHOUT DECEMBER: CORNISH CHRISTMAS MARKETS

There are plenty of Christmas markets in Cornwall to head to in 2019, for a glass or two of warm mulled wine and to stock up on perfect presents to suit all.  Combine the magic of Christmas with the perfect opportunity to choose some great gifts and treats with a trip to one of our home grown favourites…

LATE DECEMBER UNTIL JANUARY: MOUSEHOLE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

This is a best-loved tradition amongst The Greenbank team. Mousehole’s famous habour lights have been running since 1963 and have since grown to a huge spectacle. Marvel at the floating displays in the harbour and follow the winding strings of lanterns through the cobbled streets. The lights stay on each evening from 5pm until 11pm, giving plenty of opportunities to head on over.
