November featured cocktails in the bar
Celebrate the winter season with our warming cocktails this November. To mix it up, we’ve got much loved Old Fashioned tipples to celebrate Old Fashioned Week, alongside some retro classics to quench your thirst…
OLD FASHIONED WEEK SPECIAL (2nd – 11TH November)
The Old Fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters, then adding alcohol (such as whiskey or brandy) and a twist of citrus rind. It is traditionally served in a short, round, tumbler-like glass, which is called an Old Fashioned glass, named after the drink. After the success of previous years, Old Fashioned Week returns from 2nd to the 11th of November 2017.
We invite you to join us in a celebration of the world’s most popular cocktail by serving a range of Old Fashioned drinks for two weeks this November.
MARY PICKFORD (3RD – 10TH November)
A Mary Pickford is a prohibition era cocktail made with white rum, grenadine, fresh pineapple juice and Maraschino liqueur. It is served shaken and chilled, often with a cherry to garnish. Named after Canadian-American film actress Mary Pickford, it is said to have been created for her in the 1920s by Eddie Woelke on a trip she took to Havana with Charlie Chaplin.
Harvey Wallbanger (10TH – 17th November)
A mix of vodka, orange juice and Galliano, the Harvey Wallbanger was a popular cocktail in the late 1960s when sweet, neon-hued drinks became a popular choice for drinkers. Delicious.
Blood and Sand (17th – 24Th November)
Undoubtedly the best known scotch whisky cocktail there is! Our bar team expertly blends equal parts of four ingredients; Scotch whisky, cherry brandy, fresh orange juice and sweet vermouth. The deep amber colour of the cherry brandy is said to represent the blood and the orange juice, the sand.
Bramble (24TH SEPTEMBER – 30TH NOVEMBER)
The Bramble brings together dry gin, lemon juice, creme de mure and crushed ice finishing off the cocktail with some fresh blackberries and a slice of lemon. The perfect tipple for any gin lover.
Come try our cocktails for yourself! Snap up two for £10 every Friday evening in the Greenbank bar, including the above during their designated weeks.
