Meet Cornish Wedding Photographer Brian Tellam

Cornish wedding photographer Brian Tellam had a huge imagination as a child, carrying a camera with no film around and watching people through the viewfinder.

“I felt like a ninja, pretending to capture moments in time that interested me. It’s a strong part of why I love photography so much. It’s just me and my camera, capturing the natural beauty of Cornwall and of course, precious moments that will never return. To me, a photo is far more than just an image. It seeks a thousand words, showing emotions and the atmosphere, enclosed within one single shot.”

Brian puts his heart and soul into his job and you can find him on Brian Tellam Photography.

What’s the best thing about photographing a Wedding at The Greenbank?

Well, it’s the perfect location for any event. Its natural beauty and historical, authentic touch is desirable for any photographer to let their imagination run wild. Being next to the water’s edge, which is a magical view for the bride and groom, there are so many backdrops to choose from. It’s like a photographer’s sweet shop.

Not forgetting the staff, who are high end and go out of their way to make the day run smoothly, as well as being very helpful to me by giving me free rein to capture the day hassle-free.

What’s your favourite image you’ve ever taken?

My favourite photograph to date is an image I captured at Gwithian Towans. The natural beauty of Gwithian is what stemmed my passion for photography as a kid, which in turn, fueled my passion for photography to this day.

Gwithian is a place that holds so many sentimental memories for me. Capturing the sunset and movement of water is such a fun thing to do. It took so many attempts to capture but it was a joy when I achieved the end result.

What’s your best piece of advice for a couple planning their big day?

It’s quite simple really – enjoy yourselves! Be you, be happy and most of all, enjoy every second of it. Don’t rush – take your time, as the day is for you both. Soak up the moments as they happen. Laugh, cry, dance and create the best memories of your life.

What’s the process once a couple enquires about you photographing their wedding?

Firstly, I provide details of my work and portfolio before arranging a meeting with the couple to get an insight into their lives, their day, and what they would like from me. It’s my role to fit in with the furniture, to be there to capture the raw memories and candid shots. I aim to not put any pressure on the wedding guests during the day by trying to make the experiences as natural as possible, as these hold the most sentimental moments.

After creating a plan with the bride and groom, I will then arrange a complimentary pre-wedding shoot to let the couple get used to the camera and myself as the photographer. It also helps us all get to know each other a bit better before the big day!

Why should couples choose The Greenbank?

Bursting with contemporary vibes and modern twists, The Greenbank truthfully reminds me of Hogwarts – it’s so cool. The venue is warm and welcoming, which caters for your every need. It’s 100% one of the most beautiful venues I’ve been granted to work within.

And why should they choose you?

It’s your day, your choices and I am here to capture those precious moments. I purely focus on capturing the natural shots, as to me, these are the most important. I try my best to fade into the background and let my camera do the work. Of course, if you want any specific photos, these can be done also. I love the energy of a wedding day. I’m a “people” person and if you’re feeling shy, I know I can change that with ease. My passion is to ensure you enjoy every part of your special day.
