Introducing Wedding and Events Manager Jane Williams

At the age of eighteen Jane qualified as a nursery nurse and worked in Oxford initially as a nanny, but she wanted to be in a more caring profession. She later worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital and qualified to look after poorly premature babies. Jane then moved back to Cornwall, describing herself as “a proud Penryn girl.”

After marrying and having three children, she started to work in a friend’s hotel to earn a little pin money – that gave her the first taste of hospitality. She’s been a wedding and events manager for the past twelve years now and loves every minute of it.

Where is your favourite place to eat, relax and visit in and around Falmouth?

Falmouth has fast become a foodie’s paradise. From a selection of traditional restaurants to African, Greek, Caribbean and Turkish restaurants, and not forgetting fantastic specialty fish restaurants, so I simply couldn’t choose a favourite. To relax I will go to the vast selection of sports clubs Falmouth has to offer, relax on our beaches in the summer, walk along our beautiful cliff paths or I do like to take advantage of some relaxing boat trips on the River Fal.

What’s your favourite thing to do in the summer?

I love spending time with my family, so anything that involves taking them to the beach is a winner. The beach is the perfect place to take the grandchildren as there is so much to explore, from coves to rockpools, making sand castles and paddling in the sea.

Where is your favourite place to unwind?

After work I enjoy jogging along the seafront. The fresh sea air is the best medicine – I’m so lucky to live where I do.

What is your favourite thing about Falmouth?

We are privileged to have some interesting places to visit around, such as the famous tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan on the Helford River, The National Maritime Museum based in the town, boats trips to Frenchman’s Creek where Daphne Du Maurier wrote Rebecca, Falmouth Art Gallery, concerts at The Princess Pavilion and so much more.
