6th & 12th June : A History of Witchcraft in Cornwall – The Poly, Falmouth

Explore the history of witchcraft, folklore, and superstitions with this insightful talk at The Poly in Falmouth. Topics include societal perceptions and the treatment of those rumoured to hold magical powers over the past few centuries. The talk will cover different roles in witchcraft, from pellers and conjurors to charmers and witches. It will also discuss the superstitions that still remain today in the 21st century.

6th – 8th June: The Royal Cornwall Show – Wadebridge

It’s the highlight of Cornwall’s agricultural calendar. On the second weekend of June, thousands of traders, farmers, and businesses across Cornwall will set up stalls at the county’s largest annual event—the Royal Cornwall Show. First established in 1793, this show features agricultural showcases, show-jumping, and cattle competitions. It also offers food, drink, and live music. There’s something for every age and interest at this historical event

8th June: Modern Calligraphy for Beginners – The Poly, Falmouth

Perfect your penmanship with The Poly’s modern calligraphy workshop. Suitable for beginners, over the course of two hours you will be taught the basics of letter forming using a traditional dip ink pen to create gift tags and bookmarks. A therapeutic and relaxing way to spend an evening learning a new skill. A glass of Prosecco and snacks are included, along with all the materials and equipment needed.

14th – 16th June: Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival – The Working Boat

One of Falmouth’s biggest free events, and a personal favourite of ours – this June sees the return of the annual International Sea Shanty Festival. A weekend where the cobbled streets carry the sounds of the sea, with pubs, bars, and venues hosting pop-up performances from over 70 sea shanty groups. Grab a pint of your favourite Cornish ale and come together over the melodic tunes sung over the centuries by sailors.

14th – 16th June: Falmouth Classics 2024 – Falmouth Bay

Recognised as having some of the best sailing waters in the world, Falmouth will once again welcome the breathtaking spectacle that is the Falmouth Classics regatta. Since it began in 1987, it has steadily grown to be one of the largest classic sailing events in the UK. Delight in this unique experience as the boats sail past over three days of racing, and see them in their full glory during the Parade of Classic Boats and the Small Classic Boat Parade. Just in time for the Sea Shanty Festival, The Greenbank makes for a wonderful vantage point for uninterrupted views out over the harbour for a weekend filled with all things nautical.

17th June – Pottery Course for Beginners – The Poly, Falmouth

Budding potters wondering what’s on in Cornwall in June need to check out The Poly’s newest hand building pottery course for beginners. Spend four weeks honing the craft of one of the oldest forms of pottery. Experiment with different techniques, from pinch pots, coil pots and slab making, to decorative methods such as slip and glazing.

21st – 30th June: Golowan Festival – Penzance

A tradition in the West Cornish coastal town of Penzance since 1991, Golowan Festival is the UK’s second biggest street festival. Celebrate with ten days of performances, parades, fairs, and fireworks. This year’s theme is ‘Together, We Shine’, with the aim to illuminate the organisations and individuals who have inspired or uplifted the community.

22nd – 23rd June: St Merryn Steam & Vintage Rally

From dancing diggers to tractor surfing and antique steam engines, the St Merryn Steam & Vintage Rally is back for 2024, offering a fun day out for all ages. The village just outside of Padstow started the rally back in 1980, to help raise money to fix the roof of St Merryn Church. The tradition still stands today, with the event now raising thousands of pounds for local charities each year.

23rd – 29th June: Mevagissey Feast Week

Last but not least on our guide to what’s on in Cornwall in June is the annual Mevagissey Feast Week. Featuring cooking demonstrations, live music, plenty of seafood, flora dances, boat races, and children’s entertainment. Head down to Mevagissey to see the fishing port come to life.
