Caffè Falmouth
Falmouth’s caffeine culture rivals that of any big city, with independent coffee houses catering for aficionados and amateur tasters alike.
The chilly mornings in and around the town are a superb excuse to dive into any one of these establishments and start your day on a high; here are three of the best:
Espressini
Espressini is the #1 place for many coffee lovers in Falmouth, and with two sites across Killigrew and Arwenack Street dedicated to the humble bean, it shows that they love grinding it as much as their dedicated patrons love drinking it.
The team pride themselves on the research they put into each variation before it even reaches their counter, so their self-professed title as the “epitome of specialty coffee” is absolutely well deserved. You only have to taste it to see why.
Picnic Cornwall
Showcasing Cornwall’s talent to turn its hand to anything, the coffee roasters at Origin have pride of place at Picnic Cornwall’s coffee shop on Church Street.
Should you happen upon Picnic Cornwall before your first cup of the day, they serve breakfast from 8am; a perfect opportunity to taste the delights of Hugo’s Porridge or a good old fashioned bacon butty with handmade tomato relish – delicious!
DeWynns
Step into the past at DeWynns, the 19th Century to be precise.
As one of Falmouth’s original coffee shops, there’s no more appropriate place to sip a coffee and dream yourself amongst the bourgeoisie of the past, enthusiastically discussing business matters of the utmost importance.
Alternatively, just let your thoughts wander during some of Granny Nunn’s Bread Pudding or their famous cream teas…we’d have both if it were up to us!
The coffee in the Greenbank bar is hard to beat, and our Tregothnan tea (with leaves in the pot, we wouldn’t serve it any other way) marks our expertise in the world of deluxe, luxury refreshment.
We hope that this cafetiere of coffee shops gives you a hint of what’s available in Falmouth, so simply follow your senses; you won’t be left feeling like a cold decaf, we promise.
