April Cocktail Recipe: The Breakfast Martini
INGREDIENTS
• A shot and a half of gin – we are obsessed with Tarquin’s artisan Cornish gin
• Three quarters of a shot of Triple Sec (orange liqueur)
• Juice of half a freshly squeezed lemon
• A third of a shot of sugar syrup
• Two heaped teaspoons of marmalade
METHOD
This recipe is super easy. Simply shake all ingredients together, then add crushed ice once the marmalade has dissolved a little. If you haven’t got a cocktail shaker at home, a simple jam jar will suffice.
Serve strained into a Martini glass and garnish with orange peel spirals. Grab some thickly cut buttered toast for a contrasting crunch and enjoy, whatever time of the day!
TASTING NOTES
Mixologist Nina says: “The quality of the marmalade is the crucial part of this sweet and sour orange cocktail. The better it is, the better the taste. Nothing beats homemade marmalade but we’ve thoroughly enjoyed trialling and testing different concoctions throughout the years, to deliver our best Breakfast Martini yet.
Personally, I’m not a fan of marmalade but I love this cocktail – it’s such a smooth summery drink with a sublime and tangy citrus aftertaste.”
